On the path to restoring your quality of life

What to Expect

Your appointment with Dr Kerian Robinson is the first step toward understanding your condition and planning the best treatment for you. We want you to feel comfortable, well-prepared, and confident about what to expect before, during, and after your visit.

Before your Appointment

Referral
To claim your Medicare rebate, you will need a current referral from your GP (valid for 12 months) or another specialist (valid for 3 months). Please ensure this has been sent by your referring practitioner, or if they've given this referral to you, please email it to referrals@kerianrobinson.com.au.
New Patient Form
If this is your first time seeing Dr Robinson, please complete the New Patient Registration Form online before your appointment. This saves time on the day and ensures we have your medical history and contact details ready.
Patient Reported Outcome Measures
To assist Dr Robinson in determining your current level of impairment due to the condition you are seeing him for, please complete the form that relates to your condition:

Hip

Knee

Imaging
If you already have X-rays, MRIs, CT scans, or ultrasound results related to your condition, please either bring both the images and the reports with you, or information about the imaging you've had performed and the radiology clinic that performed the imaging is included in your "New Patient Registration Form" above. This helps Dr Robinson make an accurate assessment at your very first consultation.

Other Information
Bring along:
  • A list of your current medications (including supplements)
  • Details of any previous operations
  • Any letters or notes from other specialists
  • Support Person
Many patients find it helpful to bring a partner, relative, or friend with them to their appointment. This person can provide moral support and assist in remembering details from your consultation and treatment plan.

    3. A review of any imaging previously performed
    4. A clear explanation of the diagnosis
    5. A discussion about treatment options available for your condition, both non-surgical and surgical, and what is most appropriate for you specifically

    Telehealth
We offer telehealth consultations for interstate and regional patients. These are suitable for follow-up discussions or initial reviews. However, an in-person appointment is required before any surgery can be planned or performed.

    Fees and Rebates

Payment is required on the day of your appointment. Rebates are processed directly back into your Medicare-linked bank account. If you have private health insurance, please note that health funds do not provide rebates for outpatient specialist consultations.

    Current fees are:
  • New Consultation: - $250 (Medicare rebates ~$86 of this)
  • Review Consultation: - $150 (Medicare rebates ~$43 of this)
  • After your Appointment

Our rooms will call you to arrange any further consultations or investigations that may be required. If surgery is planned, our rooms will provide you with detailed information about the procedure, expected recovery, scheduling process and provide you with an informed financial consent.

Dr Robinson understands the importance of communication with your healthcare providers and prides himself on the timeliness of his correspondence. A letter summarising the consultation will be sent to your referring practitioner, and your general practitioner if they were not the doctor to have referred you, on the day of the consultation.

    Cancellations

We understand that circumstances can change. If you are unable to attend, please call us as soon as possible so that we can offer your appointment time to another patient in need.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Do I need a referral?
Yes — a GP or specialist referral is required to claim your Medicare rebate.

What if I don’t have any scans yet?
That’s fine. If imaging is required, Dr Robinson will arrange the most appropriate tests after your consultation and review these with you at a later date.

How long will the appointment take?
Most new consultations run for approximately 20 to 30 minutes. Review consultations are often quicker, with Dr Robinson just needing to get up to speed with any changes since your last appointment.

Can I bring someone with me?
Yes, and we encourage it. Having a support person with you can make it easier to discuss your condition and remember the details of your treatment plan.

    Do you offer telehealth?
Yes. Telehealth is available for patients who live interstate or regionally, but an in-person consultation is required before any surgical procedure.

When will I hear about the results?
If you undergo additional tests or imaging, Dr Robinson will discuss the results with you at your follow-up appointment. In urgent cases, our rooms will contact you sooner.

    When do I pay?
Payment is due on the day. Medicare rebates are processed electronically to your linked bank account.
